Menopause and Fibroids-What is the connection?

The question comes to mind of what does menopause have to do with fibroids? Here is a short definition of what fibroids are. Uterine Fibroids are a solid muscle tissue that grows in the uterus. There are three names they are known of:

•Fibroid tumors
•Myomas
•Leiomyomas

To know what causes uterine fibroids are unknown, but there is one major part in the growth of fibroids is that estrogens especially estradiol which promotes growth.

When your menopause is coming to an end or should I say after menopause fibroids disappear. Because estrogen levels can rise during the early menopausal years, previously asymptomatic fibroids may grow in the years just before the cessation of menses.

This is resulting in symptoms with feelings of heaviness in the stomach area (belly), lower back pain, pain with vaginal penetration, incontinence, problems with bowel movements or severe menstrual pain and flooding.

Something else to know about fibroids:

Fibroids are the number one reason American women have hysterectomies.
Women of color are three to nine times more likely to have fibroids than white women, and theirs will more quickly.

Menopause and Hot Flashes-Do I have any tumors?

When the “T” word is said during a conversation about a medical condition it builds up a strong sense of fear. While experiencing menopause this is something very serious to talk about to your doctor, especially after your menopause. First we need to define what kind of tumors we are speaking about.

What are Fibroids?

They are called Fibroids. Are small benign tumors that grow on the outside or inside within the smooth muscles of the uterine wall and are actually very common. About 30% of women have encountered larger fibroids at some point in their lives; these are the types which cause symptoms to occur where otherwise you might never know you had them.

Here are some other points to know about fibroids. Now if the fibroid s stay small, there is no need for much concern. However, a fibroid that grows quickly, is a warning sign that it is cancerous. When a woman has rapidly growing fibroids after menopause, the risk for developing cancer goes from 1 in a 1,000 to 1 in a hundred.

*Watch this FREE video for information on what fibroids are.

Upon reading and watching the video here is some added information to be mindful of. Post menopausal women need to be especially diligent about seeing their medical expert and bringing to their attention of these changes after having menopause and hot flashes.

I hope this information and resource has been helpful and I urge your to take every bit of it serious.
