Menopause Depression- Why am I so sad?

Am I just a sensitive person?

As I came into full blown menopause, I was in a sad and bad mood more than often. At first I thought it was just learning of myself as a real sensitive person. But as I went through this “change of life” and discussing this with my doctor I found out that it had to do with my menopause.

The change of my emotional level was due to the change in my hormones. I was in depression with my menopause. Then I had to think of me not getting good sleep with these changes. I began to understand more why I would be so exhausted when I would wake up from my sleep. I was very irritable and anxious. I realized that it is hard to be positive and carry on with your daily task when your body is craving sleep and you are having these emotional roller coaster rides.

I needed a new attitude

I was relieved to know that after talking to my doctor, that it wasn’t just me! I began to look at middle age changes with the mindset of realizing that I am getting older. I had to stand toe-to-toe with this fact. It took a lot of soul searching and a honest look at how I felt about being middle age.All I know is that this is going to be and is a time in my life that is full of possibilities and it is what it is! It is all apart of the process.

  1. Hello Ann,

Nice post, clearly written, well presented. I hope more people see it, to understand what can happen at that stage of a woman's life.
